Welcome to Litchibari — Our Story Begins

We're thrilled to share the story behind Litchibari Eco Resort — why we built it, what we believe in, and what makes our corner of Sreemangal so special. If you've visited us, this will give you a little more context for what you experienced. If you haven't yet — we hope it makes you want to come.

Why Sreemangal?

Sreemangal was not a random choice. It is one of Bangladesh's most naturally beautiful regions — a place where rolling tea estates meet ancient forests, where the air is cooler and cleaner, and where the rhythm of daily life is shaped by the land rather than the city. When we first visited Sreemangal, we knew immediately that this was somewhere we wanted to help people experience. Not just as tourists, but as genuine guests in a remarkable place.

The Name "Litchibari"

Litchibari means "lychee garden" in Bengali — and the name comes directly from the land the resort is built on. Lychee trees have grown in this area for generations, part of the natural landscape long before the resort existed. We chose to preserve them, build around them, and let them be part of what guests experience when they arrive. When lychees are in season, guests can pick them fresh from the trees — a small but genuine connection to the place and its history.

What We Believe In

Litchibari was built around three ideas. First: that travel should restore rather than exhaust. We design the guest experience to slow things down — comfortable rooms, good food, time to sit, walk, and breathe without an agenda. Second: that the best hospitality comes from genuine care, not performance. Our team are from the local community, and when they take care of guests, it comes from a real sense of pride in where they live. Third: that a resort should give back to its surroundings. We source food locally, employ locally, and do what we can to protect the natural environment that makes Sreemangal worth visiting in the first place.

Our Cottages and Rooms

Each of our rooms and cottages is named after something from the natural and cultural life of Sreemangal — Shokuntola, Doyel, Radhachura, Chandraketu, Bashonti. These aren't just names; they're nods to the flowers, birds, and characters that are part of this region's identity. Every space is designed to feel connected to the outdoors — with views, open-air elements, and natural light that make you feel like the garden is part of your room.

We built Litchibari because we wanted a place in Sreemangal that treated guests the way we'd want to be treated — with warmth, good food, a clean and beautiful space, and honest hospitality.
